Bridging the gap between KDE4 and Plasma5 (WIP) by TheTyx
Bridging the gap between KDE4 and Plasma5 (WIP)
The new Plasma5 desktop introduces a different approach to design which aims to reduce clutter and provide a clean, modern look. KDE4 was released in 2007 and is in the sunset of its existence.
However, with different Plasma and Aurorae themes, different widget and icon theme and a different font, KDE4 can still look like it's keeping in touch with trends. This screenshot was precisely made with the
purpose of showing that its postulated potential trendiness is factual. You be judge of that, however! :)

I am obviously having issues with the icon theme, but hopefully the missing icons will be added eventually. I'm also looking for a better window decoration theme.

What was used?

Widget theme - Evolvere (using the QtCurve engine)
Icon theme - Compass
Font - Lato (hinting turned off!)
Aurorae theme (window decorations) - QtCurve (Evolvere)
Plasma theme - Evolvere
Color scheme - Evolvere

OS - Debian Testing
Would this be an appropriate time to reflect? On what, though? Having been fiddling with photography, but above all, manipulating photographs, for perhaps 8-ish years, I find myself at a place where this particular realm of action barely enters my existence. The discrepancy between what I would like do with photos and what I can do and manage to do dissuades me from picking this hobby up again in what would be a nostalgic act of this man's desire for transcendence. Aye, I saught a different world, a world of imagination where the mind reigns supreme. Pursuing this hobby brought about a small entrance into that world. What fascinated me the most was how, no matter how unintentional it was, my subconscious mind added meaning to the pictures I was working on, only to have made me confused at how I reached such heights. To put it simply, I acted randomly first and later on saw concepts, symbols and meaning in something that was never meant to possess those elements. Truly, these have been the most joyous moments. In the future, I would hope to be able to reach them again, should motivation be provided for embracing this hobby. This world has been disenchanted. In such circumstances, even the tiniest fragment of the magical, mystical, transcended is to be cherished by the heart of the dreamer.

Dreamland - A Tribute To Robert Miles by TheTyx
Dreamland - A Tribute To Robert Miles
This wallpaper is meant to depict the moods and images which Robert Miles' Dreamland album imparted on me. The layout of the elements replicates the album cover, but content-wise it adds the elements of thunder (heard in the beginning of dream version of Children) and attemps to point out the upside down nature of dreamscapes by placing the clouds, which is above, below and by placing the soil, which is below, above. The colors are also similar to the ones on the album cover.

The wallpaper resonates most with the dream version of Fable, in my opinion. It has been sitting on my desktop since May 2014 and I finally just went and posted it without much editing (it's obviously decent at best). I would like to make a different version that would have a more creative layout and which would incorporate the famous silhouette of Robert Miles, with certain lyrics being shown, but my moments of inspiration are scarce.

Last but not least, thank you, Robert Miles. This a tribute to you.

Note - Times New Roman is for the 90s look (grain around the thunder too eh)? Haha, I don't know.
